TBRC Launches Season with Big Changes (🎧)

The season is underway at the Thunder Bay Rowing Club, with rowers back on the Kam River preparing for summer regattas. This year marks a significant chapter for the club, which has been part of the local community since 1904.

Now operating under new leadership, the club has welcomed a new head coach, Hasan Pathan, who arrived from New Zealand to take on the role. His arrival signals a renewed focus on competitive training and long-term development for the club's athletes.

CBC spoke with club president Vince Rutter, head coach Hasan Pathan, and competitive rower Sienna Munro about the club's direction, the return of youth programming, and what lies ahead for rowing in the region.

Another major development this season is the reintroduction of high school rowing. For the first time in years, the program is open to all Thunder Bay high school students, with the first sessions already taking place.
