Our Mission
At Thunder Bay Rowing Club, we are driven by a deep passion for the sport, the water, and the natural beauty that surrounds us. We strive to foster a welcoming community where rowers of all levels can develop their skills, embrace the teamwork and discipline of the sport, and experience the exhilaration of gliding across the water. Committed to both recreation and competition, we nurture athletes to push their limits, strengthen camaraderie, and pursue excellence. Whether igniting a lifelong love for rowing or discovering the next Olympic medalist, we are dedicated to growing the sport and inspiring the champions of tomorrow.
Vision 2030
Looking ahead, but informed by our history, the TBRC wants to build a stronger club on existing solid foundation as both a community centre and an elite training facility. Read more about our vision for the future of rowing in Thunder Bay.
Coaching Staff
Hasan Pathan

Hasan joins the Thunder Bay Rowing Club as Head Coach for the 2025 season, bringing a dynamic mix of grassroots development, high-performance coaching, and hands-on boat expertise. Hasan has coaching experience from across New Zealand and Australia, having led programs at Mount Albert Grammar School and West End Rowing Club, and most recently serving as Junior Rowing Coordinator at St Michael’s Collegiate in Tasmania. He has coached multiple age-group crews to national medals, including U20 provincial teams and the Rowing NZ U18 North vs South squad. He’s looking forward to leading TBRC into its next chapter under Vision 2030.
Harrison Chow
Rowing Program Coordinator
A Thunder Bay local, Harri joins the Thunder Bay Rowing Club this summer as the Rowing Program Coordinator. He recently completed his Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology at Lakehead University, where he successfully balanced academic excellence with a competitive alpine ski racing career through the Port Arthur Ski Club.
Harri discovered rowing just two years ago through the club and quickly developed a deep passion for the sport. He’s now eager to bring together his academic background in kinesiology and his experience as a high-performance athlete to support Hasan in coaching and developing rowers on the water.
